Soccer Game Preview: Whitehall-Yearling vs. Columbus Academy

The Whitehall-Yearling Rams are taking a road trip to face off against the Columbus Academy Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Whitehall-Yearling will be strutting in after a victory while Columbus Academy will be coming in after a loss.

Whitehall-Yearling's defense heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They blew past Independence 3-0. The result was nothing new for Whitehall-Yearling, who have now won six matchups by three goals or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Columbus Academy fell victim to Bishop Watterson and their airtight defense on Monday. They lost 5-0 to the Eagles. While losing is never fun, Columbus Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio soccer rankings (they are ranked 362nd, while Bishop Watterson are ranked 64th).

The win made it two in a row for Whitehall-Yearling and bumps their season record up to 7-7-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored eight goals over those two contests. As for Columbus Academy, they dropped their record down to 2-13 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road.

Whitehall-Yearling suffered a grim 8-1 defeat to Columbus Academy when the teams last played back in September of 2024. Can the Rams avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
