Baseball Game Preview: Zanesville Blue Devils vs. Dover Crimson Tornadoes

Zanesville is 1-7 against Dover since April of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Blue Devils will head out on the road to face off against the Crimson Tornadoes at 5:00 p.m. Zanesville will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

On Friday, Zanesville narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Morgan 3-2. That's two games straight that the Blue Devils have won by just one run.

Maddox Mohler tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over 6.2 innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April.

At the plate, Zanesville's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Ja'Ckye McBride, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Dover came out on top against Madison Comprehensive on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run fourth inning. The Crimson Tornadoes walked away with an 8-3 victory over the Rams. The Crimson Tornadoes haven't had any issues with the Rams recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Zanesville's record now sits at 11-14. As for Dover, they now have a winning record of 13-12.

Zanesville might still be hurting after the 11-1 loss they got from Dover in their previous matchup back in April of 2019. Can the Blue Devils avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
