Basketball Recap: Gervais Starts Season with Win at Home + How To Watch

Gervais gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Willamina Bulldogs by a score of 51-42. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Cougars also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2024.

Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Austin Verdino, who posted ten points in addition to seven steals and six boards. Ben Moore was another key player, shooting 45% from the field en route to 13 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Gervais will venture away from home to challenge Riverdale at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Willamina, they will challenge Yamhill-Carlton at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
