Baseball Recap: Zion-Benton Takes a Loss

Zion-Benton lost against Antioch back in May of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Zee-Bees fell just short of the Sequoits by a score of 1-0. The Zee-Bees just can't catch a break and have now endured four defeats in a row.

Michael Gonzalez was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in May of 2024.

On the hitting side, Zion-Benton saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jack Marabella, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Zion-Benton's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Antioch, their win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-3-1.

Coming up, Zion-Benton will challenge Wilmot at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Antioch, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Deerfield at 10:00 a.m.
