Ithaca hasn't had much luck against Breckenridge recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Yellowjackets will face off against the Huskies at 4:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Breckenridge will be up against a hot Ithaca squad: the team just extended their winning streak to five. The Yellowjackets put the hurt on Merrill with a sharp 14-4 win on Wednesday.
Greyson Merchant looked comfortable as he tossed 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Connor McMurphy was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Ithaca's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 8-9 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Brady Paradise, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles.
Ithaca kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.6 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 9.8.
Fans were treated to a battle of the Huskies on Friday. Breckenridge was the clear victor by a 16-10 margin over Hemlock. Considering Breckenridge has won 11 matchups by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Blaze Snyder was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Snyder was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most runs he has posted over his last eight contests.
In other batting news, Breckenridge got a massive performance out of Braxton Clapp, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most hits Clapp has posted since back in May of 2025. Another player making a difference was Bentley MacLaren, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI.
Ithaca's record now sits at 17-9. As for Breckenridge, their record is now 18-5.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Ithaca has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Breckenridge struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Ithaca suffered a grim 13-6 defeat to Breckenridge in their previous meeting back in May of 2018. Can the Yellowjackets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
