Softball Recap: Thursday's Win Is St. Anthony's Tenth in Last 11 Outings

St. Anthony got themselves on the board against Holy Trinity on Thursday, but Holy Trinity never followed suit. They were the clear victors by an 8-0 margin over the Titans. The Friars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by seven runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Makayla Martinez, who fired off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-3. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Lee, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

St. Anthony's hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in six consecutive games.

St. Anthony's is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-2 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.6 runs on average over those games. As for Holy Trinity, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-4.

Coming up, St. Anthony's will take on Orchard Park at 1:45 p.m. on Saturday. As for Holy Trinity, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against St. Dominic at 4:30 p.m.
