Baseball Recap: Rio Americano Comes Up Short

After flying high against Cosumnes Oaks last Tuesday, Rio Americano came back down to earth. The Rio Americano Raiders fell 4-1 to the Yuba City Honkers on Thursday. The loss was the Raiders' first of the season.

Rio Americano got a good showing from Carter Dean, who struck out six batters over four innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits (and not a single walk).

At the plate, Rio Americano saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Will Parilo, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base. That stolen base marked the first that Parilo stole this season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Rio Americano fell to 3-1. As for Yuba City, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Looking ahead, Rio Americano will be playing at home against Cordova at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Rio Americano is facing Cordova at the right time seeing as Cordova is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Yuba City, they will take on Woodland at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
