Jackson Carver leads Baker County to victory over Stanton

The Baker County Wildcats had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.3 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. They had just enough and edged Stanton out 54-51. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory Baker County has posted yet this season.

Baker County can attribute much of their success to Jackson Carver, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds. That's the first time this season that Carver scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Anthony Washington, who scored eight points along with two steals.

Baker County is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-9 record this season. As for Stanton, their loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Baker County won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Fort White at 7:30 p.m. on January 19th. Fort White presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Baker County in Florida (Fort White is ranked 125th, while Baker County is ranked 459th). As for Stanton, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Englewood at 7:00 p.m.
