Baseball Game Preview: Morgantown Mohigans vs. Upper St. Clair Panthers

The Morgantown Mohigans will venture away from home to challenge the Upper St. Clair Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Morgantown is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season.

Morgantown made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Bridgeport, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Mohigans fell just short of the Indians by a score of 2-0 on Wednesday. Having soared to a lofty 16 runs in the game before, the Mohigans' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Maddox Boggs was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out six batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off eight hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

Upper St. Clair came out on top against Chartiers Valley on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run second inning. The Panthers put the hurt on the Colts with a sharp 11-2 win. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Colts recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.

Upper St. Clair's win bumped their record up to 9-11. As for Morgantown, their loss dropped their record down to 21-5.

Morgantown couldn't quite finish off Upper St. Clair when the teams last played back in April of 2024 and fell 4-2. Can the Mohigans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
