Basketball Game Preview: Southern Nash Firebirds vs. Roanoke Rapids Yellowjackets

Southern Nash and Roanoke Rapids are an even 4-4 against one another since December of 2021, but not for long. Having just played yesterday, the Southern Nash Firebirds will head out on the road to face off against the Roanoke Rapids Yellowjackets at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Southern Nash is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They fell to Rocky Mount 65-61. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (60), the Firebirds still had to take the loss.

Meanwhile, Roanoke Rapids strolled past Bunn with points to spare last Friday, taking the game 57-40. That looming 57-40 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Yellowjackets yet this season.

The win made it two in a row for Roanoke Rapids and bumps their season record up to 8-5. As for Southern Nash, their loss dropped their record down to 6-6.

Things could have been worse for Southern Nash, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 59-45 loss to Roanoke Rapids when the teams last played back in December of 2024. Can Southern Nash avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
