Recap: Neligh-Oakdale Warriors vs. Stuart Broncos
The Neligh-Oakdale Warriors's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 78-34 loss at the hands of Stuart. Neligh-Oakdale was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 39-19.
When it comes to explaining why Neligh-Oakdale lost, one person who can't be blamed is Chase Furstenau. Despite the final result, he scored 28 points along with eight rebounds. Furstenau scored a full 82.4% of Neligh-Oakdale's points, the 11th time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Colson Krebs, who scored six points along with three steals.
Stuart's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gavynn Mustin, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. Mustin set a new season high mark in assists with seven. Hunter Tubbs was another key contributor, scoring 19 points along with nine rebounds and three blocks.
Neligh-Oakdale's defeat was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-10. As for Stuart, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.
Neligh-Oakdale will be playing at home against Wausa at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Stuart, they will head out on the road to face off against Chambers/Wheeler Central at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Chambers/Wheeler Central focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Thursday.
