Softball Game Preview: Johnson City Eagles vs. Mason Punchers

For the second straight game, Johnson City will face off against Mason. Johnson City will welcome Mason at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Johnson City is coming into the match hot, having won their last eight games.

If Johnson City beats Mason with 22 runs on Tuesday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. Johnson City's pitcher stepped up to hand Mason a 22-0 shutout on Friday. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 games by seven runs or more this season.

Bo Crownover was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Emaleigh Davis was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with five RBI, three runs, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February. Isabelle Haley was another key player, scoring three runs while going 3-for-4.

Johnson City kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in eight consecutive matches.

Johnson City pushed their record up to 12-1-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Mason, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-9.
