Softball Recap: Northwest Sets Scoring Season-High Against Heights

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Northwest). Everything went their way against the Heights Falcons on Tuesday as they made off with a 15-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Grizzlies in their matchups with the Falcons: they've now won nine in a row.

Lilly Hoffman was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Hoffman was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Those runs marked the first that she has scored this season.

In other pitching news, Elianna Burgardt looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

Back at the plate, Northwest let Kam Stubbs and Tharon Thomas run wild. Stubbs went a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, three RBI, and two runs, while Thomas went 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those triples were Stubbs' first of the season. Mia Touchatt was another key player, going 1-for-4 with four runs and one triple.

Northwest hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Heights struck out six times.

Northwest picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 3-4. As for Heights, they dropped their record down to 2-5 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Northwest beat the Falcons by a score of 15-5 later that day.
