Football Game Preview: Citronelle Wildcats vs. Montgomery Catholic Knights + Official Tickets

The Citronelle Wildcats will challenge the Montgomery Catholic Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Citronelle will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

Citronelle is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Elberta: they outscored them in every quarter. The Wildcats were the clear victors by a 33-7 margin over the Warriors last Friday. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Wildcats' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama football rankings (they are ranked 137th, while the Warriors are ranked 275th).

Kemarkys Howard was the offensive standout of the matchup as he rushed for 97 yards on only 11 carries, and also threw for 53 yards and one TD.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Citronelle was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 373 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since the start of last season.

Meanwhile, after a string of five wins, Montgomery Catholic's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They were outmatched by Vestavia Hills and fell 40-13.

Citronelle will need to focus on slowing down Cj Sankey, one of several Montgomery Catholic players who made an impact when they last played. He threw for 207 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 82.4% of his passes. A healthy portion of Sankey's aerial production (96 yards to be exact) went to Michael Sheffield, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

The win got Citronelle back to even at 5-5. As for Montgomery Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-4.

Citronelle took a serious blow against Montgomery Catholic in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, falling 43-0. Can the Wildcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
