Hot Springs hadn't done well against Spearfish recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Bison won by a set and slipped past the Spartans 3-2. This was payback for the Bison, who suffered a 3-1 defeat the last time these two teams met.

If you add up the scores from across all five sets (110-102) Hot Springs actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. The final score came out to 25-21, 14-25, 20-25, 28-26, 15-13.

Spearfish's loss came despite strong showings from Faith Hoffman and Taylor Vitto. Hoffman had 23 digs and five assists, while Vitto had 17 digs. Hoffman has been hot recently, having posted ten or more digs the last three times she's played. Averie Rogers also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

The victory made it two in a row for Hot Springs and bumps their season record up to 18-16. As for Spearfish, their loss ended a three-match streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-8.

Hot Springs does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Spearfish, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 2-0 win against Yankton on the 24th.
