Softball Recap: Hilmar Comes Up Short

After flying high against Downey on Wednesday, Hilmar came back down to earth. The Hilmar Yellowjackets fell just short of the Summerville Bears by a score of 15-13 on Thursday. The Yellowjackets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bears apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Maribel Moreno stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she scored two runs while going 3-for-5. Camryn Mattos was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-4.

Hilmar's loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Looking ahead, Hilmar will be playing in front of their home fans against Central Valley at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Summerville, they will challenge El Capitan at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
