Softball Recap: Woodland Finds Home Field Redemption Against Hampton

There's no place like home for Woodland, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Hampton Hornets with a sharp 13-1 victory on Thursday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Wolfpack needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

The team relied heavily on Aliyah Allen, who went 1-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Kyndra Johnson also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Woodland was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hampton only posted a batting average of .200.

Woodland now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Hampton, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-9 record this season.

Woodland didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 10-2 defeat against Locust Grove on the 8th. As for Hampton, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 16-0 loss against Sandy Creek on the 8th.
