Basketball Recap: Oasis Christian Comes Up Short

Oasis Christian extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to five on Thursday, dropping them down to 0-4. They were outmatched by the Four Corners Coyotes and fell 79-35. The Lions lost against the Coyotes in their previous head to head back in January of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 54-43 score last time.

Justin Linares and Yebriel Perez certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Linares posted 22 points and eight rebounds, while Perez scored five points along with 13 boards and six blocks. Perez is crushing it when it comes to boards: he's pulled down at least nine every time he's taken the court this season. Jordan Almonte was another key player, putting up eight points and eight steals.

As for Four Corners, they now have a winning record of 3-2. They have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three games by 32 points or more this season.

Mitsayo Lucien was the offensive standout of the matchup as he put up 17 points. Another player making a difference was Sebastian Marques, who earned nine points.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Oasis Christian will host Foundation Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Four Corners, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Mulberry at 8:00 p.m.
