Preview: Langston Hughes Panthers vs. Newnan Cougars

Langston Hughes is 7-0 against Newnan since December of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Langston Hughes Panthers will be playing at home against the Newnan Cougars at 7:30 p.m. One thing working in Langston Hughes' favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five games.

Even though New Manchester scored an imposing 57 points on Monday, Langston Hughes still came out on top. Langston Hughes took their match against New Manchester 68-57. Given Langston Hughes' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 38th, while New Manchester is ranked 336th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Jaron LeMelle continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 18 points along with 8 rebounds and 3 steals. The contest was his fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Christian Walthour, who scored 17 points.

Meanwhile, even though East Paulding scored an imposing 55 points on Tuesday, Newnan still came out on top. Newnan walked away with a 63-55 win over East Paulding.

Langston Hughes' win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.0 points per game. As for Newnan, their victory bumped their record up to 4-2.

Langston Hughes didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Newnan in their previous matchup back in January, but they still walked away with a 44-40 victory. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Newnan's Braylon Jackson, who scored 15 points along with 6 rebounds and 4 steals. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be that much easier for Langston Hughes to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
