Preview: Kent Island Buccaneers vs. North Caroline Bulldogs
The Kent Island Buccaneers will head out on the road to face off against the North Caroline Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Kent Island is looking to tack on another W to their eight-game streak on the road dating back to last season.
Even though Bennett scored an imposing 34 points on Friday, Kent Island still came out on top. Kent Island breezed by Bennett on the road to the tune of 61-34. The result was nothing new for Kent Island, who have now won five contests by 23 points or more so far this season.
Kent Island's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Austin Holland, who rushed for 42 yards and a touchdown, and also caught a touchdown. Kent Island also got a significant boost from Shane Bogardus, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 177 yards.
Meanwhile, North Caroline unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Friday. Their rough 44-20 loss to Decatur might stick with them for a while. North Caroline was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 30-7.
Despite the loss, North Caroline got a solid performance out of Nasai Bell, who rushed for 46 yards and a touchdown, and also picked up 45 receiving yards.
With Kent Island's win and North Caroline's loss, both teams now sport identical 6-1 records.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Thursday's game: Kent Island has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 223 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like North Caroline struggles in that department as they've been even better at 269.9 per game. It's looking like Thursday's match might have some serious battles in the trenches.
