Softball Recap: Shadle Park Takes a Loss

Shadle Park extended their losing streak to five on Thursday, dropping them down to 3-11. They came up short against the Cheney Blackhawks, falling 10-3. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Blackhawks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-3 back in March.

Shadle Park saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Laniya Mawdsley, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

As for Cheney, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 10-4. Considering they have won eight matchups by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

On Cheney's side, Maddy Hurley made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 15 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. Those 15 strikeouts gave Hurley a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Cheney got a massive performance out of Annie Beito, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and three runs. Another player making a difference was Reese Scholle, who went 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Shadle Park didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 17-2 win against Gonzaga Prep on the 24th. As for Cheney, they have also already played their next contest, an 11-1 loss against Mt. Spokane on the 24th.
