Softball Recap: Borden Takes a Loss

Borden suffered their closest loss since April 14, 2025 on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Bedford North Lawrence Stars by a score of 6-4. The Braves were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Stars apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2017.

Eva Eversmann was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. Mallory Thomas also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

This is the second loss in a row for Borden and nudges their season record down to 2-2. As for Bedford North Lawrence, their victory ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-12.

Looking ahead, Borden will take on Charlestown at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Bedford North Lawrence, they will head out to face off against Jeffersonville at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Red Devils have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.71 runs per game on average), something the Stars will no doubt try to take advantage of.
