Soccer Game Preview: LaVergne vs. Cookeville

The LaVergne Wolverines will venture away from home to take on the Cookeville Cavaliers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

LaVergne is headed in fresh off scoring the most goals they have all season. They blew past Wilson Central 8-3 on Monday. The result was nothing new for LaVergne, who have now won five matches by three goals or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Cookeville hasn't lost a match since March 18th, a trend which continued in their latest game on Thursday. Their defense stepped up to hand Cumberland County a 3-0 shutout. Cookeville have beaten Cumberland County the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest Cumberland County has come to flipping the script.

Cookeville's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-1-2. The home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those six games. As for LaVergne, the win got them back to even at 7-7-2.

LaVergne might still be hurting after the 4-0 loss they got from Cookeville in their previous matchup back in April. Can the Wolverines avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
