Basketball Recap: Addison Bell and Lexi Vaughan Secure Win for Bandys

Bandys hadn't done well against Newton-Conover recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Bandys Trojans came out on top against the Newton-Conover Red Devils by a score of 56-46. This was a revenge game for the Trojans: when they faced off against the Red Devils back in January, they had to take a 66-46 loss.

Leading Bandys to victory were Lexi Vaughan and Addison Bell. Vaughan dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten boards, while Bell went 6 of 12 on her way to 17 points along with five assists and three steals. Vaughan is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last 12 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Madison Gault, who posted nine points.

Several Red Devils players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Sara Sain, who scored 12 points and eight boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Lea Boyens, who earned ten points.

Bandys' record now sits at 13-7. As for Newton-Conover, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-5.

Bandys and Newton-Conover should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings. Bandys will face off against West Caldwell at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday up 300 places (152 vs. 452). Bandys is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.8 points per game this season. Meanwhile, Newton-Conover (ranked 99th) will meet Bunker Hill (ranked 426th) at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
