Game recap: Morgantown comes out on top in shoot out with Wheeling Park

In a back and forth game, Morgantown (W. Va.)'s offense came through to hand the the Mohigans a 42-39 win.

After taking the lead on a Chazzy Thomas touchdown run in the second quarter, the Mohigans led 21-17 at the half.

Morgantown expanded its lead to 11 points entering the fourth quarter. MHS scored two times in the third, including once on a Thomas touchdown run.

The Mohigans' standout player in the win was Thomas. The junior running back ran for four touchdowns. He has now scored 13 touchdowns on the season.

When the two teams played each other last season, Morgantown came away with a 28-7 victory.



The loss comes after Wheeling Park defeated John Marshall 62-14 last week. The loss snapped the Patriots' 2-game winning streak. With the win MHS extended its winning streak to three games.

In a non-conference game next week Wheeling Park (4-3) takes on Elkins, and Morgantown (5-1) will go up against Steubenville also in a non-conference game.
