Baseball Recap: Fredericksburg Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Fredericksburg waltzed into their matchup on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Everything went their way against the Bandera BULLDOGS as they made off with a 9-3 win. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 16-5 last Tuesday.

Fredericksburg got a great performance from John Jablonsky as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Jablonsky has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Tyler Boswell and Holt Herber did most of the damage at the plate: Boswell scored two runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-3, while Herber scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. Those three stolen bases gave Boswell a new career-high. Creek Frantzen was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Fredericksburg hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most three strikeouts in three consecutive contests.

Fredericksburg's victory bumped their record up to 15-4. As for Bandera, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-6-1.

Fredericksburg and Bandera could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Fredericksburg will square off against Davenport at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday down 226 places (305 vs. 79). Meanwhile, Bandera (ranked 523rd) will meet Wimberley (ranked 113th) at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
