Softball Game Preview: Willamette Wolverines vs. South Medford Panthers

For the second straight game, Willamette will face off against South Medford. The Wolverines will head out on the road to take on the Panthers at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Willamette is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season.

Willamette had been on a three-game streak of scoring at least ten runs, but South Medford put an end to it on Tuesday. The Wolverines fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Wolverines have suffered against the Panthers since May 12, 2018.

Tayla Ferre spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits.

At the plate, Macy Rush made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Zoey Alley also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

The win made it two in a row for South Medford and bumps their season record up to 7-9. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 5 runs in those games. As for Willamette, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-10.
