Football Game Preview: Wilcox-Hildreth Falcons vs. Central Valley Cougars

The Wilcox-Hildreth Falcons will venture away from home to challenge the Central Valley Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

On Friday, Wilcox-Hildreth came up short against Elm Creek and fell 42-34.

The match pitted two dominant backs against one another in Drew Blank and Keston Beavers. Beavers had a great game and rushed for 126 yards and one TD. Meanwhile, Blank was balling out in the loss, rushing for 155 yards and one touchdown on only 13 carries, while also throwing for 110 yards and one TD.

Meanwhile, Central Valley put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Chambers/Wheeler Central 52-12. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 38-12.

One reason for the win was Central Valley's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank two different players for their defensive prowess: Gunnar Vanosdall and Oaklan Soto, who each picked up one sack apiece.

Wilcox-Hildreth dropped their record down to 4-4 with the loss, which was their third straight at home. As for Central Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 8-0.

Thursday's game might be decided on the ground. Wilcox-Hildreth has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 196.4 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Central Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 272.1 rushing yards.
