Baseball Recap: Sidney Gets the Win

Sidney never let their opponents score on Friday. Everything went their way against the Shepherd Mustangs as they made off with an 11-0 victory. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Eagles' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Cameron Coryell made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Coryell was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brody Verhasselt, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Jacob Barnett was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Sidney always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .528. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Shepherd only posted an OBP of .125.

Sidney's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Shepherd, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-5.

Coincidentally, Sidney and Shepherd will both be playing Billings Central Catholic the next time they take the field. The Eagles will head out to face the Rams at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, while the Mustangs will host them at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
