Recap: Sam Rayburn Texans vs. Van Vleck Leopards
The Sam Rayburn Texans fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They came out on top against Van Vleck by a score of 39-31 on Friday. Despite the victory, that was the fewest points Sam Rayburn has scored all year.
Several Leopards players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Corey Austin, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds and four steals. The matchup was Austin's tenth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Micah Burks, who scored eight points along with six rebounds.
Sam Rayburn's victory bumped their record up to 5-11. As for Van Vleck, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sam Rayburn will be home for the holidays to greet Anahuac at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Anahuac knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four games -- so hopefully Sam Rayburn likes a good challenge. Van Vleck will be home for the holidays to greet Danbury at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Danbury has insisted on making their lastthree contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 0-3 during that stretch of close contests.
