Volleyball Recap: Doniphan-Trumbull Takes a Loss

Doniphan-Trumbull entered their game against Central City on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Cardinals fell just short of the Bison by a score of 2-1. If the Cardinals were looking for revenge after losing 2-1 to the Bison when the teams met back in September of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Doniphan-Trumbull was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Central City work for it, especially in the third set. The match finished with set scores of 23-25, 25-19, 26-24.

Charlee Richter paced Doniphan-Trumbull's offense, picking up 18 kills. Richter got some help from Laini Rath and her 18 assists. Richter also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Kinley Kaczor, racking up two apiece.

Doniphan-Trumbull's defeat dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Central City, the victory snapped their losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 4-5 record.

Coincidentally, Doniphan-Trumbull and Central City will both be playing Gibbon the next time they take the court. The Bison will host the Buffaloes at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Cardinals will play them later in the day, at 7:00 p.m.
