Flag Football Game Preview: Mira Mesa Marauders vs. Mater Dei Catholic Crusaders

The Mira Mesa Marauders will face off against the Mater Dei Catholic Crusaders at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Mira Mesa is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games.

Mira Mesa is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They strolled past Point Loma with points to spare, taking the game 18-2.

The critical scores for Mira Mesa came from Grace Dunbar, Vyanna Ta, and Lauren Nguyen.

Mira Mesa didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Philippa Liu and Dunbar. Dunbar got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Despite a strong season so far, Mater Dei Catholic has seen their luck take a bit of a downturn recently. They had to suffer through a 38-7 loss at the hands of Bonita Vista. While losing is never fun, the Crusaders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California flag football rankings (they are ranked 207th, while the Barons are ranked ninth).

Mira Mesa now has a winning record of 11-10. As for Mater Dei Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 12-5.
