Softball Recap: Keene Takes a Loss

Keene extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping them down to 3-15. They came up short against the Portsmouth Clippers, falling 14-0. The Blackbirds were not able to make up for their loss to the Clippers from their previous meeting back in May of 2025.

As for Portsmouth, they pushed their record up to 11-9 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. The result was nothing new for the Clippers, who have now won six matchups by nine runs or more so far this season.

For Portsmouth's part, Sarah Sokolnicki (2026) tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Sokolnicki (2026) has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Portsmouth got a massive performance out of Kora Douglass (2029), who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave Douglass (2029) a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Abby Craig (2028), who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

Coming up, Keene will face off against Spaulding at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Portsmouth does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
