Basketball Game Preview: Bernie Mules vs. Woodland Cardinals

The Bernie Mules will take on the Woodland Cardinals in a tournament on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Bernie comes in on six and Woodland on three.

Bernie picked up another tournament win on Tuesday. They enjoyed a cozy 60-42 victory over Bloomfield. Given the Mules' advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 75th, while the Wildcats are ranked 255th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Woodland got the win against Bell City on Tuesday by a conclusive 82-56. The Cardinals have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matchups by 26 points or more this season.

Bernie is also on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.1 points per game. As for Woodland, their win bumped their record up to 13-2.

Things could have been worse for Bernie, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 56-41 loss to Woodland when the teams last played back in December of 2024. Can Bernie avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
