On Monday, Triton Central was able to grind out a solid win over Shelbyville, taking the game 3-1.
The match finished with set scores of 25-16, 26-24, 18-25, 25-18.
Meanwhile, it was close, but on Monday Mt. Vernon sidestepped Westfield for a 3-2 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Marauders.
Mt. Vernon took Westfield into a fifth set where they got it done with a two-point win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 16-25, 25-16, 25-23, 22-25, 16-14.
Mt. Vernon's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Makenna Thompson, who had 12 digs, and Aubry Dowling, who had eight digs. Thompson is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 11 or more in the last three games she's played dating back to last season.
Triton Central has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 13 games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. As for Mt. Vernon, their record is now 13-6.
