San Jacinto Valley Academy put the hurt on United Christian Academy with a sharp 12-3 win. Considering the Wolves have won four games by more than eight runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Avilika Arana spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on four hits and racked up six Ks. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-low in walks (zero).
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Sydney Vail, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (three). San Jacinto Valley Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as United Christian Academy only posted a batting average of .185.
San Jacinto Valley Academy's victory bumped their record up to 5-7. As for California Military Institute, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. California Military Institute has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like San Jacinto Valley Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.5 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
California Military Institute might still be hurting after the 26-0 defeat they got from San Jacinto Valley Academy in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can California Military Institute avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
