Basketball Recap: Grand County Falls Despite Big Games from Alana Torres and Chloe Byrd

After soaring to 60 points the game before, Grand County was a bit more limited in their contest on Thursday. They lost 45-24 to the Union Cougars. The Red Devils were not able to make up for their defeat to the Cougars from their previous meeting back in February of 2020.

Chloe Byrd and Alana Torres certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Byrd posted seven points and four steals, while Torres scored four points and six rebounds.

Union got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Aunna Hadlock out in front who earned nine points in addition to five assists and five boards. Another player making a difference was Payzlei Parrish, who had 11 points and six rebounds.

Grand County's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Union, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Grand County has already played their next matchup, a 58-28 defeat against North Sanpete on the 21st. As for Union, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 44-30 win against Canyon View on the 22nd.
