The Rocky River Pirates will square off against the Normandy Invaders at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Rocky River is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.
Rocky River took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They never let Valley Forge get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. The high-scoring effort was just what the Pirates needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.
The team relied heavily on Maddie Sollars, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Maggie Heigle was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Normandy ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Bay, sneaking past 9-7.
Ava Ramirez was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over eight innings while giving up four earned (and three unearned) runs off ten hits. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.9 strikeouts per game. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Aubrey Kuhn was incredible, going 3-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Parker, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Normandy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2025.
Rocky River pushed their record up to 11-7 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Normandy, their win bumped their record up to 4-5.
Rocky River got the 'W' when the teams last played on April 13th against Normandy by a conclusive 6-0 score. Will the Pirates repeat their success, or do the Invaders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
