The St. Mary's Knights will head out on the road to square off against the Mountain View Toros at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. St. Mary's will be strutting in after a win while Mountain View will be coming in after a defeat.
St. Mary's took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against Boulder Creek, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. St. Mary's came out on top in a nail-biter against Boulder Creek on Friday, sneaking past 8-6. Eight seems to be a good number for the Knights as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

The team relied heavily on Jacob Del La Rosa, who scored a run while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (three). Another player making a difference was Javier Romero, who scored three runs while going 2-for-5.
Meanwhile, Mountain View came up short against Mountain Pointe on Friday and fell 8-5. The Toros have struggled against the Pride recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Mountain View also got a good showing from Landon Brewer, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
On the hitting side, Beckham Barney was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. Max Germaine was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double.
The win (which was St. Mary's third in a row) raised their record to 3-0. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Mountain View, they now have a losing record of 1-2.
Mountain View's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: St. Mary's hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .317. It's a different story for Mountain View, though, as they've only averaged .210. Will they be able to contain St. Mary's hitters?
St. Mary's couldn't quite finish off Mountain View when the teams last played back in March of 2016 and fell 7-5. Can St. Mary's avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
