Basketball Recap: Floresville Takes a Loss

Floresville extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to seven on Friday, dropping them down to 0-6. They had to suffer through a 57-28 loss at the hands of the Johnson Jaguars. The contest marked the Tigers/Jaguars' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Despite the loss, Floresville still got an impressive performance from Amariah Ruiz, who posted 11 points.

As for Johnson, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 5-1. They have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matchups by 29 points or more this season.

Mackenzie Donald had another great game (as she tends to do), shooting 70% from the field en route to 15 points and five steals. The contest was her third in a row with at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Latisha Ornelas, who had nine points.

Floresville wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 54-52 victory against Harlingen South on the 15th. As for Johnson, they have also already played their next matchup, a 66-36 win against Jourdanton on the 15th.
