Basketball Recap: Lamesa Extends Winning Streak to Six

Lamesa put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They took down the Smyer Bobcats 54-37. The 54-point effort marked the Tornadoes' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Lamesa's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Taleesa Hope, who dropped a double-double with 20 points and 21 boards. The contest was Hope's fifth in a row with at least 16 points. Mariela Gonzales was another key player, putting up 20 points along with six rebounds and four steals.

Lamesa smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 25 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds every time they've taken the court this season.

Lamesa's win bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Smyer, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Lamesa has already played their next matchup, a 53-11 victory against Morton on the 15th. As for Smyer, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 49-44 loss against Denver City on the 14th.
