Basketball Game Preview: Alameda Hornets vs. Piedmont Highlanders

The Alameda Hornets will challenge the Piedmont Highlanders at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Alameda knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past six matchups -- so hopefully Piedmont likes a good challenge.

On Saturday, Alameda was fully in charge, breezing past Encinal 82-55. The Hornets have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight games by 25 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Piedmont came up short against Berkeley on Friday and fell 76-67. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Wednesday (63), the Highlanders still had to take the loss.

Alameda has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.3 points over those games. As for Piedmont, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-12.

Alameda strolled past Piedmont when the teams last played back in January by a score of 74-60. Does Alameda have another victory up their sleeve, or will Piedmont turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
