Softball Game Preview: Horizon Scorpions vs. Americas Trail Blazers

The Horizon Scorpions will face off against the Americas Trail Blazers at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Horizon has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since February 27.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Horizon's offense. They came up short against El Dorado on Tuesday, falling 10-0.

Meanwhile, after only one run in their last game, Americas made sure to put some runs up on the board against Bel Air on Tuesday. Americas put the hurt on Bel Air with a sharp 17-2 victory. The Trail Blazers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by seven runs or more this season.

Giselle Alcala made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in February. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, Isabelle Garcia was incredible, scoring four runs while going 2-for-3. Monserrat Irigoyen was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-1.

Americas was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They are a perfect 9-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The win made it two in a row for Americas and bumps their season record up to 12-13. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games. As for Horizon, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-14.
