Basketball Recap: Kyden Heniger Key Part of a Team Effort in Tornadoes Win

There's no place like home for Clearwater, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They came out on top against the Countryside Cougars by a score of 48-40 on Tuesday. For the Tornadoes, this counts as revenge for the 49-47 victory the Cougars walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2024.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Clearwater to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kyden Heniger, who went 9 for 12 on his way to 19 points. Heniger is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Tavaris Gant, who posted eight points and ten rebounds.

Countryside's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Corey Perlin, who had ten points in addition to six boards and six steals. Perlin has become a key player for Countryside: the team is 8-1 when he posts at least three steals, but 2-5 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Carter Padags, who put up 12 points.

Clearwater's record now sits at 11-5. As for Countryside, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-6.

Clearwater has already played their next matchup (against Seminole), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Countryside wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, an 87-18 win against Tarpon Springs on the 15th.
