Softball Game Preview: Hazelwood West Wildcats vs. Howell Central Spartans + Official Tickets

Hazelwood West hasn't had much luck against Howell Central recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Wildcats will challenge the Spartans at 3:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Hazelwood West's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Ladue Horton Watkins with a sharp 7-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Rams: they've now won seven in a row.

Allisan Cafolla made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in October of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, earning one RBI, one run, and one stolen base. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played.

In other batting news, Kenna Kalka and Mia Boschen did most of the damage at the plate: Kalka went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Boschen went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Boschen has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. DaRailly Dunlap also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Howell Central came out on top against Seckman on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run fifth inning. The Spartans were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over the Jaguars.

Hazelwood West's record now sits at 15-4. As for Howell Central, their record is now 13-4.

Hazelwood West suffered a grim 13-1 defeat to Howell Central in their previous meeting back in September. Can the Wildcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
