Soccer Recap: Arleta Continues Home Dominance on Monday

Arleta won the last time they faced Monroe and things went their way on Monday too. The Arleta Mustangs never let the Monroe Vikings onto the board and left with a 1-0 victory. Given the Mustangs' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 375th, while the Vikings are ranked 1002nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Arleta's one-goal win came courtesy of Jair Montoya, which was the first he's scored this season.

Arleta's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-2-2. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those four matches. As for Monroe, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-9-3.

Arleta didn't take long to hit the pitch again: they've already played their next contest, a 1-1 draw against Verdugo Hills on the 29th. Monroe has also already played their next game, a 4-3 loss against Poly on the 29th.
