Volleyball Recap: Lincoln's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Thursday

If Lincoln was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Rickards on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Trojans came up short against the Florida State University High School Seminoles on Thursday, falling 3-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Trojans have suffered against the Seminoles since September 20, 2022.

The defeat didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Florida State University High School scored at least 17 points in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 25-20, 25-20.

Mackenzie Poppell paced Lincoln's offense, picking up ten kills. Poppell got some help from Savannah Weiss and her 18 assists. Weiss was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

With the loss, Lincoln broke their four-match winning streak and moved their record to 12-9. As for Florida State University High School, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 18-5.

Looking ahead, Lincoln will head out to face off against Leon at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Florida State University High School does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
