Baseball Recap: Ellis Has No Trouble Against Minneola

While Ellis didn't have the best season last year (they finished 1-12), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Minneola Wildcats a 20-0 shutout on Friday. That 20 run margin sets a new team best for the Railroaders this season.

Gavyn Wildeman was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. He continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Aiden Aschenbrenner was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

The victory made it two in a row for Ellis and bumps their season record up to 6-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.5 runs over those games. As for Minneola, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 0-8.

Ellis didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 10-0 defeat against Thomas More Prep-Marian on the 14th. Minneola has also already played their next contest (against Satanta), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
