Basketball Recap: Quinnlin Pope Key Part of Team Effort in Wolverines Win + How To Watch

There's no place like home for Wakefield, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They walked away with a 43-35 victory over the Winston Salem Christian Lions on Saturday.

Wakefield's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Quinnlin Pope led the charge by putting up 12 points and three steals. Pope has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Kate Benson, who posted 15 points and four steals.

Several Lions players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Morgan Fields, who put up eight points along with eight rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Marissa Mitchell, who had nine points.

Wakefield's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for Winston Salem Christian, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 5-2.

Looking ahead, Wakefield will take on Leesville Road at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Winston Salem Christian, they will challenge Ambassador Christian School at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Ambassador Christian School will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something Winston Salem Christian surely won't give up without a fight.
