Flag Football Game Preview: Mesquite Wildcats vs. Marcos de Niza Padres

The Mesquite Wildcats are taking a road trip to square off against the Marcos de Niza Padres at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Marcos de Niza will be up against a hot Mesquite team: the squad just extended their winning streak to four. The Wildcats simply couldn't be stopped on Tuesday as they easily beat Saguaro 49-0. The Wildcats' defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a point in their last three contests.

Alexa Montoya produced another solid performance throwing for 157 yards and four TDs, while also rushing for 54 yards and a pair of scores on only six carries. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last four times she's played.

Mesquite didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Saguaro to a completion percentage of just 40.7%. The Wildcats weren't nearly as limited: they posted one of 68.8%.

Meanwhile, Marcos de Niza never let their opponents score on Tuesday. They breezed past Coronado to the tune of 42-0. The Padres' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Mesquite's victory bumped their record up to 12-1. As for Marcos de Niza, their win bumped their record up to 6-4.

Mesquite strolled past Marcos de Niza in their previous meeting back in September of 2024 by a score of 20-6. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
